CAFÉ COTON Ties: Quality and Style

CAFÉ COTON Ties Come in All Shapes and Colors

Crafted under the supervision of the famed Italian manufacturer, the CAFÉ COTON regular and skinny ties display a fabulous hand, with designs so rich they seem to pop out of the fabric.  Our ties are 100% silk, woven and feature an eight-thread count – a guaranty that they will keep their shape throughout the day.  Not only are the colors fashionable, they also show a depth that gives the tie a sensuous feel.  The beauty this season is that the big Polka dots are in fashion, and that more adventurous men can combine stripes and checks (or vice-versa).

Men's Collar Trends for 2012

Men's Collar Trends for 2012

CAFÉ COTON will continue to promote high collars for dress shirts.  Indeed, unless you are an actor, or a musician going to the Grammy’s, an elegant suit will be better complemented by a substantial collar.  The high collar also creates an ideal framing for a medium sized tie knot.  Having the shirt collar rising above the suit collar by half an inch should be the norm.

Being the French cutaway (full-spread) or the Classic French collar (semi-spread) for the EXCLUSIVE® and the Slim-Fit collections, or the High Classic French collar (semi-spread) for the SELECTION® or the COUTURE®, all CAFÉ COTON collars can be worn with a tie or open – in which case we advise men to keep the two top buttons unbuttoned (our second button is positioned slightly higher that the norm for that purpose).

Of course, CAFÉ COTON also offers shorter collars as well, but these are dedicated to our more casual chic shirt styles, such as SÉRIE LIMITÉE® and SIGNATURE® for the short French collar, or MÉTROPOLITAIN® for the “cricket” (short extreme cutaway).

The CAFÉ COTON button-down collar is decidedly modern as it is a full spread with buttons.  Of course, the EXCLUSIVE® button-down collar does not have collar stays, but the interfacing that is sewn inside the collar reinforces the shape of the collar, making it perfect for wearing ties. When the collar is open, unbuttoning the collar wing buttons adds to the casual look.

Fall/Winter Pattern Trends

Men's Pattern Trends for Fall & Winter 2012

The year 2012 is all about checks, window panes and plaid patterns – being for shirts or ties.  Of course, solid and stripe shirts are ever classic and allow for the use of bold Polka dot ties that are in the center of fall/winter fashion.

Since suits call for simplicity, with designs ranging from solid to pin stripe to muted plaid and tweeds, pairing CAFÉ COTON shirts and ties will be very easy.  For the more adventurous dressers, combining stripes and checks will be acceptable.  As a brand that promotes elegant simplicity, we advise men to avoid mixing bold stripes with bold window panes, or thin stripes with thin checks.  The idea for fabric patterns is always to complement not clash.

Men's Fashion Color Trends for Winter 2012

Men's Fashion Color Trends for Winter 2012

The fall/winter 2012 dominant color ranges from Azure to Indigo blue. Although Indigo blue is a staple for our ties, CAFÉ COTON does not recommend it for shirts.  A rule of thumb for masculine elegance is to avoid a lighter color for the tie than for the shirt – unless you like the “Sopranos look”!

An Indigo shirt does not leave you with many choices except for a black tie – and that looks a little too much like one of those wardrobe design for militias in futuristic totalitarian regimes that we see in not so great movies… The CAFÉ COTON color for our winter shirt collection will be Azure Blue.  Although blue may be the most classic color in men’ shirts, some of the blues can translate to very trendy colors.  Since the fall/winter trend is calling for simplicity, wearing an Azure blue shirt will agree with any kind of color suit and tie, and this shade of blue is definitely modern.  For the latest iMen's style and fashion, we try a bit harder for you.

The official Pantone website gives other directions depending on the type of activity: “Rhubarb, a deep, pungent hue, brings intensity to the palette, and is best paired with Tangerine Tango and Honey Gold for a typical collegiate look. To hit the ski slopes in style, combine Ultramarine Green with Bright Chartreuse and Olympian Blue for the ultimate in winter athletic apparel.”

These colors will do amazingly well with all CAFÉ COTON casual shirts where checks and window panes will be predominant this season.  As for our ties, we will be offering variations of these colors to accommodate assortments geared to every occasion.
